NEW PORT AND RECREATIONAL AREA AGREED FOR LA LINEA
The local authorities have just confirmed that plans have been agreed to invest 30 million euros in the development of a brand new port with marine sports facilities, shops and restaurants. It will be located just next to the border with Gibraltar and the new congress centre. This alone will have an impact on the mid to long term property prices meaning that La Linea right now is an ideal choice for a holiday home or investment property.

Other important advances around La Linea that will have an influence on property prices are listed below.

  • There is an international airport across the border at Gibraltar with regular flights to many destinations in the UK and now internal flights within Spain. A new terminal building is planned to allow easier access for internal Spanish flights
  • From March 08 EasyJet took over the current British Airways operation of GB Airways meaning that there are now two low cost airlines flying in and out of Gibraltar (Monarch and EasyJet)
  • La Linea is ideally situated for access to the Costa del Sol (Marbella 35 minutes by car), the Costa de la Luz (Tarifa 20 minutes by Car), Seville (1 hour by car), Africa and Portugal (2.5 - 3 hours by car)
  • The property prices are lower than in other parts of the Costa del Sol although the new plans will certainly increase prices over the coming years
  • La Linea is still very much an unspoilt Spanish town.
  • The cost of living in La Linea tends to be lower than in some of the larger resorts on the Costa del Sol
